Burning City Redux

I am planning, designing, researching, and mostly thinking, thinking, thinking, and taking notes of said thinking on the revised business model for The Devil's Candy Store. Since I often think better while performing a mundane task, I am also rearranging the Burning City World Headquarters. Wise? Hmm, maybe not, but people who know me will recognize this as a creative exercise I do with maddening regularity. When in doubt, change your surroundings.

Dave and Denise Dorman and I are sitting in a bar in the city of Indianapolis where the GenCon Gaming conference is being held. The table next to us is filled with guys who are 20/30-something with ponytails and beards being very loud and rowdy.

Me: Man, those guys are loud.
Dave: Well, they're gamers.
Denise: How do you know?
Dave: I could tell the minute we walked in here.
Me: Dave's got gamedar.

Anna

Anna Nicole Smith died today. And I can genuinely say it makes me very sad. Not sure why, but it does.


Rest in peace, Anna.

Sick Leave

Well, wasn't that fun? Around 9AM Friday morning I called both Alex and Dave to tell them that I wouldn't be attending a lunch that had been planned for awhile. After I hung up I proceeded to puke hour on the hour until about Saturday afternoon. It is now very early Tuesday morning and I am finally feeling remotely human again. Back to work.

There will be drawings to post next week. I am out of town on yet another family event. Back Monday. Grindstone is sitting in my studio and waiting for my nose when I get back. Sorry about the radio silence. I have been dealing with family issues for the last couple of weeks and will continue to do so, in a big way, this week. But I am determined to get back on the comic book. Research has continued and I have narrowed down the facial characteristics of my alien vampyr lead to about 12 types. Sketches appearing soon.

Holiday Logjam Detour Roadblock Hazard

I was hoping to be consistent with posting work in progress, but the holidays have put a crimp in that plan. Had fun, saw good friends, ate more than humanly possible, but... the convention looms. Lots going on in the studio, but none of it adding up to completed work. Arrgh. Well, tomorrow's a new day.
